Workshop examples
During the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey, I designed and delivered a hands-on workshop introducing students to electronics, laser cutting, and collaborative engineering. Working in teams, participants developed robots aimed at helping people feel less isolated during lockdown - combining technical skill-building with a focus on social impact and empathy.
CREATE Education
CREATE Education is our official partner and 3D-printer supplier. They have generously offered to support our initiative with 3D printers and technical expertise, ensuring that children gain genuine hands-on experience with the technology.
University of Exeter
The University of Exeter has been central to my academic and career journey, funding my current PhD and opening up the networking opportunities that shaped this work, including the Technology Entrepreneurship Bootcamp that laid the foundation for this initiative.
Jusoor
Jusoor funded my MSc in Engineering Business Management at the University of Exeter and supported me throughout my journey as a refugee in Türkiye. Coming full circle, I've since delivered workshops on AI, bias in AI, and prompt engineering to their community, sharing the skills their support helped me build with peers from the same underrepresented and refugee backgrounds as my own.
Karam Foundation
For a year in Istanbul, I worked with the Karam Foundation as an innovative-education mentor, designing and delivering hands-on workshops to more than 200 students under the age of 18. Each four-week workshop was built around the UN Sustainable Development Goals and focused on developing critical thinking and problem-solving through a project-based approach.
Karam House
Karam House supports refugee families and children across Türkiye and Syria. I was part of its community through an undergraduate scholarship during my engineering degree in Türkiye, an experience that connected me closely with underrepresented young people and showed me the value of a community built on volunteering and mutual support.
NuVu
NuVu is an innovative-education consultancy partnering with over 40 schools worldwide. I worked alongside them during my time with Karam in Istanbul and received direct training in innovative education and workshop design.
Postgraduate Research Development Team, University of Exeter
I was hired for a year to deliver workshops on AI ethics, technology, and digital tools for research productivity. This gave me the opportunity to adapt my skills to a different audience, postgraduate researchers, designing, leading, and facilitating discussions within that community.
Widening Participation (WP) Team, University of Exeter
The Widening Participation team hired me to deliver innovative engineering workshops in Exeter and Bristol, supporting their community of prospective students from underrepresented backgrounds. I was also brought on to support their award days for these same students.
Create Education support our mission by providing 3D printers to inspire the next generation of engineers.
Hi, I'm Yousef — an asylum seeker in the UK, Doctorate researcher at the University of Exeter specialising in 3D printing techniques, and Senior Research Assistant at the University of Southampton.
I have a deep passion for innovative education for disadvantaged and disabled youth, and I believe we need to completely change how we see education for the new generation. Enginno was born from that belief — that every young person, regardless of their background or ability, deserves access to the tools that will shape tomorrow.
I'd love to connect — let's arrange a call and explore how we can work together.
Tell us what you are exploring: workshops, STEM strategy, 3D printing, inclusive education, AI learning or a new idea entirely.
